CM: Milan not interested in move for free agent defender who was let go by Celtic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not interested in a move for free agent defender Jozo Simunovic, according to one journalist.

Milan have had essentially no depth at centre-back all season, given that Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte were out to start the season, while Musacchio and Gabbia are still now currently out.

The Hamburger Morgenpost reported that the Milan management are very worried about the current defensive situation and that Simunovic is one of three names they are looking at as a possible free agent signing to bolster the backline.

According to Calciomercato.com reporter Daniele Longo though, there is nothing in the rumours and Milan are not interested in the Croatian, who has just been released by Celtic.

The 26-year-old made 129 appearances for Celtic mainly as a back-up during his time there, but did suffer numerous injury problems himself so may not be deemed as a viable option for that very reason.
