Mike Maignan has become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, if not the best, since he joined AC Milan back in 2021. Therefore, the Rossoneri are now working on a renewal but the demands are high, a report claims.
Maignan has been a very important player for Milan in recent years and aside from his injury struggles, he has been flawless really. The Rossoneri are well aware of his importance and have already begun work on the renewal.
The current deal will expire in 2026 and according to Calciomercato.com, Giorgio Furlani and his team are willing to offer just under €6m per year for the renewal until 2028. However, Milan will likely have to go higher than that, more or less matching Rafael Leao’s €7m (bonus included).
The negotiation is at the very beginning and there is certainly time to find a solution that satisfies all parties. However, it’s clear that a significant pay rise is on the cards for the goalkeeper, who currently earns €2.8m per year.
Sell him for over 100 Mil and reinforce other positions and get a decent keeper
No one is breaking down our door with 100mil offers. Get real. 6mil as is seems steep.
Sorry, 60mil
Players and their agents never learn the everlasting truth that nobody is irreplaceable. Go on and test the club’s boundary and see how far they get. I am positive that Furlani and Moncada already have a list of potential replacements for Maignan.
This is intriguing. I wanna see how they handle this. My guess is they won’t go above Leao’s salary and if he doesn’t accept they’ll sell him
“My guess is they won’t go above Leao’s salary and if he doesn’t accept they’ll sell him”
Nor should they. I’m betting on the negotiations to continue to the summer at least because MM16 will surely want to see how far Milan will go in the UCL and will they stay in TOP4 in May. He might even wait and see who Milan will buy in the summer before signing any papers. I’m sure he’d settle for less if Milan were to replicate last year’s semifinal and finished 1st in the league. But without UCL next year he’ll be gone for sure.
Yea that seems a possibility
It is what it is at this point. I’ll be ok either way
Honestly he earned it but there are other good keepers. I believe he could fetch 60M if he has a strong season. Either way seems like a good ending. Just don’t lose him for free
To put it in Perspective, Chelsea spent 71 Million on Arrizabalaga
That is Chelsea. They don’t set the market price, that’s over inflation.
But yes, I think €70m is fair price.
Milan contracts needs to be revised like Chelsea, they have automatic rights to extend 1 more year. GIROUD is a perfect example that Chelsea got something rather than lose for free.
I love Mike but I would consider selling if he doesn’t lower his demands. He’s the most injury prone GK I have ever seen.
