With the summer mercato now in the past, the AC Milan management can focus on safeguarding the core of the squad with some contract renewals.
Among the players who has been insistently linked with various top sides around Europe is Maignan, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United mentioned as having an interest during the window that has just closed.
Having managed to keep him, Calciomercato.com report that Giorgio Furlani and his team will now enter discussions over the extension of Maignan’s contract which is currently set to expire in 2026.
Milan’s intention is to let the international break and derby period pass and in a month or a month and a half they will begin concrete discussions with the player’s agents.
They already have an offer in mind too: to extend the Frenchman’s deadline until 2028 with an increase in salary from €2.8m net per season to €4m, reflecting his importance to the side.
