CM: Milan open talks over Barcelona midfielder; competition from Man Utd

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Zvonomir Boban has earmarked Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic as his dream signing for January, a report claims.

Boban has not hidden away from expressing his regret at not recruiting more experience during the summer.

Recent reports from Catalan outlet Sport – as cited by MilanNews.it – claimed that Milan are one of five teams interested in Rakitic, valued at €35m.

The 31-year-old midfielder has played just 186 minutes of competitive action so far this season, and his future at the Nou Camp appears to be in doubt.

Now, an update from Calciomercato.com‘s Daniele Longo claims that Rakitic is Boban’s ‘dream signing’ for the January transfer window.

The journalist claims that contacts have begun with his representatives, and that the Croatian national wants to leave the Barcelona.

However, it is described as a complicated pursuit due to interest from Manchester United, plus the economic costs involved.
