CM: Milan optimistic about closing signing of centre-back after latest €17-18m bid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are upping the ante in their pursuit to give head coach Stefano Pioli a new centre-back, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com are reporting that the Rossoneri management are pressing to convince Schalke 04 to sell Ozan Kabak. After yesterday’s meeting at Casa Milan between directors Paolo Maldini, Ricky Massara and the player’s entourage, a first oofer of €15m plus bonuses was sent and then rejected.

That is because Schalke are asking for at least €25m for the Turkish international, and the report adds that contacts continued into the night and on Sunday morning, which led to a new proposal of €17-18m plus bonuses.

This has increased confidence that the Rossoneri are moving along the right track to close the deal. The two clubs are also thinking about the formula, which could be a loan with an obligation to buy included, something which would push the payment further down the line.
