CM: Milan preparing attempt to sign Schalke starlet but face competition

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were first linked with Assan Ouédraogo some time ago now, but he remains a transfer target for them in view of the summer window.

According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.com, however, Milan face competition to land Ouédraogo because he is also a target for rivals Napoli who are looking to bolster their midfield ahead of 2024-25.

After his career in the club’s youth teams, the 17-year-old talent has emerged clearly in this 2. Bundesliga season with Schalke 04. Many clubs around Europe have come calling in recent weeks given the presence of a €12m release clause in his contract.

In Italy, Milan are the team that has been working for the longest time to sign Ouédraogo, given that he has been identified as the ideal profile to strengthen a department that needs new additions.

Ouédraogo is the object of desire for Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio who have been following him for two years. The contacts with his agents have been positive, and there are ‘good chances of closing a very interesting deal in the future’.

Milan are preparing what they hope will be a decisive assault to get Ouédraogo soon, but will have to overcome strong competition: in addition to Napoli, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in landing the teenager.
