CM: Milan retain pole position in Zirkzee race – player makes ‘surprise’ request

Contrary to the reports of alternative targets and broken relationships, AC Milan have not yet given up on the idea of signing Joshua Zirkzee.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan have not yet abandoned their pursuit of Zirkzee, at least that is what filters from ‘sources very close to the’ club. This is despite the difficulties encountered in trying to find a meeting point on commissions with his Kia Joorabchian.

Joorabchian is asking for around €15m in signing bonuses in order to complete the operation but Milan will not reach double figures, i.e. they are not willing to part with €10m+ in addition to the €40m clause, which they are happy to trigger.

Milan are aware of Manchester United entering the race for Zirzkee and of the contacts between his agent and the Premier League club, yet they also know that they are the only club at the moment who have an agreement with the player.

Thus, the Rossoneri remain in pole position to land the Dutchman and yet without the last fundamental step on the commission front this advantage could prove to be in vain.

In the meantime, it could be a waiting game because Zirkzee has asked his entourage to stay away from any decision regarding his future until the end of the European Championship. Thus, we must wait even longer to find out who wins the race.
