CM: Milan pursuing versatile defender with insistence as Inter make decision on his future

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could well be thwarted in their attempts to sign Danilo D’Ambrosio from Inter this summer, according to a report.

With Diogo Dalot set to return to Manchester United after his loan spell expires as things stand, the Rossoneri are no doubt in the market for his replacement and the idea of signing someone who can play both left-back and right-back would be ideal.

Sportitalia (via MilanNews) recently reported that Milan have offered a two-year contract to D’Ambrosio, as his current deal expires on June 30th. The Nerazzurri club do have an option to extend his deal by a further year.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com however, Inter director Piero Ausilio has decided to trigger the option for the renewal of D’Ambrosio’s contract until 2022. The report does mention that the former Torino star is being sought with insistence by Milan, but now it seems they would have to pay a fee.
