CM: Milan raise offer to Monaco for Fofana – fixed amount now agreed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have presented a second offer to Monaco for Youssouf Fofana and they are hoping it will be enough to get the deal done, according to a report.

As per Calciomercato.com, the first bid that the Milan management put forward was €12m and the Ligue 1 side did not deem that to be enough for Fofana, despite the fact he has less than 12 months left on his deal.

Now, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani have forward €14m as a fixed amount are now waiting for a response from Monaco, one which should arrive tomorrow or at the latest in the next 48 hours.

The feeling is that Milan are now very close to the finish line despite the attempts by Manchester United and Atletico Madrid to disrupt things.

The directors are currently discussing the bonus structure with Monaco, while the fixed sum of €14m has been verbally accepted. Fofana has made Milan his priority and is not listening to other offers, at least for the moment.

Gerry Cardinale’s arrival in the city has led the Rossoneri to try change gear when it comes to the summer mercato, starting with Fofana who is ‘now very close’.

If everything goes according to plan, the 25-year-old France international will soon sign a four-year contract with an option for the fifth year at €3m net per season plus €500k in bonuses.

  1. If we get him for 14 million, I will be kicking myself! And it looks like it. They will discuss 14 million plus bonuses. Probably 3-4 million in bonuses as 14 million is on the lower end.

Some say it’s being cheap, but keep in mind we need to bring other players in.

        1. Ultimately, does it matter the manner in which the player comes over? Everyone here complaining that they have to suffer through Milan’s lowballing and bargaining and that they just want the players to join, but then they criticize Milan’s offers and negotiation tactics… LOL!!!

Impatient fans. “Just pay the sticker price”.

          1. Totally agree,

Not seeing the usual cry babies here that as subject matter experts / analysts with someone elses money whom they disrespect for being a greedy American not knowing what he is doing or having a plan, now they are somehow quiet. Hmmmm or maybe they learned a lesson or two on business 101

          2. Guys let’s wait til the deal is done before we start celebrating 🍾

We’ve been gazumped by the richer EPL clubs before
            … 😉

I’m hoping the player will genuinely choose us but its hard for anyone to turn down a significantly larger wage packet.

        2. Ultimately they pay in amortisation. So haggling over 3-4M is pointless and time-consuming. Could’ve just offered 15M from the get go and the deal would’ve been done weeks ago.

          1. Oh really amortisation you say eh?
I think the role of CFO is vacant in AC Milan, how cant Cardinale not know that coming from Goldman Sax, such a simple statement, what are 1 or 2 mikions here or there eh?

          2. Everything will be counted against that 80% of revenue for what they can spend this year on salaries and transfers salary cap. Everything has an impact later on A mil here a 2M there. And all of a sudden you can re-sign a guy or afford a piece. They are paid for those details.

          3. Keyboard warriors know finances better than the CEO who’s in charge of the fund owning companies worth billions. That’s the reality here. 😀 😀 😀

      1. is it really worth it if you aren’t allowed to play champions league? I think they should try to make sure that they continue to avoid sanctions because European football is important to me.

        1. We’re not even close to being in danger of coming close to breach the ffp. Even if we got Zirkzee instead of Morata, we’re still very safe.
So yeah, they should definetly try to get those players ASAP instead of wasting time because of 2 or 3M€

          1. Sure, but we’re trying to sign four different players right now. 2-3 millions per player is 8-12m, which could be enough a fifth player, like a proper LB to backup Theo.

  2. Sky has just a while ago stated that because of ManU and Atletico, Monaco has just raised the fee to 35M and Milan consequently is pulling out and looking at alternatives. Other sources say Monaco has agreed verbally to Milan’s offer and Fofana has signaled that he is not listening to any other offers because he wants Milan.

This is the problem with these rumors. They are often made up, and/or are speculation from journalists in seek of clicks and newspaper sales. We don’t know who to believe, until the clubs make official announcements.

I certainly hope that Sky is wrong and Fofana is indeed coming to Milan. We do need a player like him. But I will reserve judgment until something official surfaces from either Monaco’s management or Milan’s management.

  3. Furlani is a proven incompetent stupid idiot who is not fit to tie shoelaces of Galliani or Maldini.
He has fuc… Taremi, Thuram, Kirkzee and now Fofana ….. and being the clown that he is, wants to make us believe Rabiot might join Milan.
He should have a long shower, shave his ugly dirty stubble, buy a new suit and go and hide in some wild jungle in south america.
