CM: Milan ready to try secure double renewal – the latest on Donnarumma and Calhanoglu

By Oliver Fisher -

After securing all incoming and outgoing operations in the 2020 summer window, the AC Milan management now have two renewals to focus on.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ivan Gazidis as well as directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are confident that they will close the renewals of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu, with full support form the ownership.

In Donnarumma’s case, the player wishes to stay at the club and the club are ready to reward him from an economic point of view. There will not be wild figures made available to the 21-year-old in line with the parameters set by Elliott Management, but there is also an acknowledgement that the 21-year-old does deserve a pay rise.

Meanwhile, contacts with Calhanoglu’s agent are alive to talk about his contract which expires in 2021. The Turkey international has shown great professionalism in recent months, without thinking about his uncertain contractual situation. The executives expressed optimism that the negotiation will be successful.

At the moment there is a big distance between offer and demand, but now the real discussions will start to close that gap.
