CM: Milan management must rethink as primary No.9 target David struggles

By Isak Möller -

Jonathan David has been on AC Milan’s radar for quite some time and it has previously been reported that he’s the primary target for the No.9 role. However, as a report highlights, the Rossoneri probably need to rethink their choice.

Luka Jovic has been a huge disappointment for Milan this season, failing to find the back of the net and putting in poor performances. Olivier Giroud, meanwhile, is getting older and clearly needs more rest between the games.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Milan’s attack is certainly in a crisis but the same can be said for their primary target Jonathan David. He hasn’t scored in Ligue 1 since August 27 and in the last two games for Lille, he has played just 19 minutes.

David is not the answer to Milan’s attacking struggles and something else will need to change, tactically speaking. It remains to be seen if Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada will try to sign a striker in January, seeing as the defence is the priority right now.

  1. Last year he was mostly a penalty scorer, we need an open play type of striker.
And in case someone brings him, Taremi is currently very bad.

  2. I think Okafor is enough. For a coach that knows how to play free flowing technical striker that is. Pioli doesn’t. Heck, he doesn’t know how to play a poacher as well.

  3. I would not spend a cent in January if Pioli is staying on. Wait until he gets his act together or we have a better coach.
Its like pouring water into a bucke lt with holes at the moment.

  4. He might be too expensive now due to EPL interest but one guy we should look at is Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord. Hes argentine (but represents Mexico) and is potentially top tier. 6′ tall decent in the air and a real goalscorer has outgrown the Dutch league.

Fab Romano recently quoted a price of €45mn for him. Even if he’s say 55mn by the summer, he could be worth breaking the bank for. Not very injury prone, good attributes and only 22 yrs old. Before we knock the Dutch league remember that Luis Suarez , Romario , Ronaldo were plucked from there. I know it’s not a sure thing cos lots of duds came from Eridivisie but this guy looks hot property. And we don’t have the budget to wait until they prove themselves and become €100mn forwards anyway.

  5. No one from the Eredivisie is worth more than €30 million. It’s a crap league. Unless a player tears up in the UCL, they’re not going to make the grade from the Eredivisie to Serie A.
