CM: Milan schedule meeting over potential Morata deal – the obstacles

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to rebuild the midfield first and then they will look to give Stefano Pioli a new starting striker, a report has claimed.

According to Calciomercato.com, one of the names that the management like is Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid. In fact, Milan and the player’s entourage have scheduled a meeting for next week to begin talks about a potential deal.

The negotiation will not be easy especially from an economic point of view. The Spanish striker is still under contract with Atletico and has a salary of €9m net per year, even though the supposedly agreed renewal with the LaLiga side is not yet official.

The current agreement also includes a release clause which could prevent Milan from negotiating with Los Colchoneros too, which is why the meeting is important to understand the margins of an operation.

The tax advantage of the Growth Decree cannot be used. It would have been triggered in the event of a buy-out by Juventus in June 2022 but now the Spaniard does not meet the requirements, so he will need to take a big pay cut.

A couple of exits are needed to help finance Morata’s arrival with Ante Rebic, Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers all possibly leaving. Their departures would make it easier for Furlani and Moncada to try for Morata.

  1. Out of all the strikers in the world, how can they end up with Morata?
If the algorithm says to get Motata then they can trash it…

  2. Morata?🤔 Pls no matter what I’d want Saelemeakers to remain as he works very hard for the team and tends to improve his game. I love the guy❤️🖤

    1. No he isn’t. Giroud isn’t a choker. His decision making can be poor, but he doesn’t go to pieces under pressure, his record in big games is good. Morata is a big, giant p***y.

      1. What? Giroud missed so many chances and wasted so many balls you can’t even remember all of it. He literally warmed the bench while Morata was at Chelsea. You are just cowards that have to say good things about Giroud, while he is worse than Morata.

Best I can do is that they are practically the same with Morata being able to run. But stop being cowards and admit that Giroud is average at best and shouldn’t be a starter for Milan.

  3. If we could swap Rebic for Jovic will be a good deal for Milan. Joviç had a decent season with Fiorentina. 13G 5A not bad. 25yrs too.
He played about 50games last season. After his first season in Seria A. I bet you the boy will explode next season . He is strong, can hold unto the ball. He can also beat 2 to 3 players. He fits in really well in our system. His experience is Spain and Now Seria A will make him a better player trust me. Milan should consider the swap with Rebic .
    Jovic
    Leao. Kamanda Chukwueze

    RLC Krunic
    Theo Tomori Kyear Calabria
    Mike

    1. Jovic is a player for Turkish or Dutch league. He had 1 good season in his entire career. Morata is a bit of a disappointing signing, but he is so much better than Jovic I can’t even describe it with words…

  4. IF the fee is 10m and Morata willing to take pay cut to 4m/season then I guess he is worth it, he maybe not the best finisher but he could linked up well in build up attack.

But still much prefer other younger profil that can score goals than Morata.

    1. Beto is the obvious choice. Big, strong, quick and Serie A proven. If he’s too expensive then Elye Wahi will be about €20 million.

  5. There’s somthing seriously wrong with the moneyball algorithm if it thinks a striker that can’t finish is best for the team. He looks bad for Spain and they have loads of creative players to set him up. He isn’t going to get 10 chances a game for Milan.

    1. Yeah, he scored more goals per minute for Spain than Giroud did for France. “The best goalscorer in French history”.

      1. I’d rather put money on Giroud to finish a one on one with the keeper than Morata. I bet Morata’s chance conversion rate is terrible.

        1. It is almost the same as Giroud. Like shockingly similar. I wouldn’t put my money on any of them but Morata can at least run. Very similar outcome in terms of how many shots per goal do they need, actual goals scored and more.

Basically if you think Giroud is good so is Morata. If you look at the stats Morata is actually more precise, gets more shots on goal compared to Giroud.
I wouldn’t put my money on any attacker that scores 1 goal every 2 games, so none of these 2 are worthy of playing in the Milan first team.

          1. That’s actually surprising. I really thought Girouds record would’ve been better.
I absolutely agree that neither should be our starting striker.
It’s horrible if you’ve supported Milan for a while and can remember the world class players we’ve had compared to what we sign or get linked with now isn’t it.

          2. I don’t even have to remember player. Just look at Ibrahimovic since he came back, his numbers. Too bad that injury got him.
