CM: Milan and Real Madrid continue scouting River Plate youngster – the details

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are keeping a close eye on River Plate youngster Federico Mastantuono who is developing quickly and is also a target for Real Madrid.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, Mastantuono actually wanted to be a tennis player when he was growing up, with Novak Djokovic being his hero.

The 2007-born attacking midfielder could be the next major talent to come out of Buenos Aires and arrive in Europe, with his current teammate Claudio Echeverri set to join Manchester City this summer.

Mastantuono is the youngest goalscorer in River Plate’s history and when he was eight, he was considered among the best tennis players in his age category in Argentina. He actually rejected the first advances of River Plate, but eventually devoted himself to football which it turns out he is also excellent at.

Milan supposedly sent scouts to Argentina recently to try to get a closer look at Mastantuono. River Plate recently extended his contract by one year so he is now under contract until 2026. His price tag is rising exponentially, with the release clause originally at €30m, it is now at €45m. In the final 10 days of the transfer window, it will be €50m.

That sort of fee may be a problem for Milan but the interest exists.

  1. Soooo…Milan will loose the race because :
    1. Is acting very very very slow and hesitant
    2. Don’t put the money on the table and try to negotiate to the last penny
In this way we loose big talwnts and big opportunities for greater affairs. Examples ? Julian Alvarez . Enzo Fernandez. Claudio Echeverri. Teun Koopmeiners. Sven Botman. Dani Olmo. Dominik Szobozslai. Lois Openda. Marcus Thuram. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Success belongs to the bold and quick acting.

    1. 1. Money doesn’t grow on trees
      2. Only 3-4 clubs in the world will pay 45M for a 17 year old
      3. We have much greater needs than signing a 17 y/o AM
      4. We already have an teenage attacking midfielder named Kevin Zeroli who we should be focusing on developing
      5. Stop reacting to every rumor

    2. if you are the management will you splash 50mil on attacking midfielder like him.? with other position need to be upgrade

    1. It’s not a priority for now.
For what we know we might play a 4-3-3 next season or heck even a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 for what we know.
The priorities regardless of tactics and coaches are a ST, a DM and maybe a CB.
