AC Milan have not fully given up on landing Boubacar Kamara as Marseille’s president has admitted that talks over his renewal are difficult.
According to Calciomercato.com, Kamara has refused the renewal offered to him by the Ligue 1 club which has forced them to come up with a market valuation of €17m. With his refusal to renew, the interested clubs – including Milan and Lazio – are hoping to get him at an even lower price of around €12m.
Milan actually offered that much but Marseille rejected it hoping for more, but now it is an offer that can become topical again, given the imminent deadline and the fact the France U21 international is very much playing hardball.
Speaking at a press conference to present Cengiz Under, the president of Marseille – Pablo Longoria – also spoke about the future of Kamara and the talks over an extension of his contract expiring in 2022.
“It’s a complicated question. Having a player with an expiring contract is not pleasant, especially when the player in question is from the youth sector,” he said.
“I do not like having a player at the end of the contract in my team. Nobody is above the club. The position of OM with all players is that we do not want to have them expire at the end of the season.”
