CM: Milan shift focus towards renewal of star duo as window closes – the timeline

By Oliver Fisher -

Now the transfer window has officially closed, the AC Milan management will turn their attentions to securing the renewals of two star players.

Milan managed to add a number of key pieces to their talented young core which already boasted the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Theo Hernandez, Matteo Gabbia, Davide Calabria, Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie.

Jens Petter Hauge came on a permanent deal from Bodo/Glimt while Sandro Tonali arrived from Brescia and Brahim Diaz joined on a one-year dry loan.

However, according to Calciomercato.com, Milan’s priority now the transfer market is closed is the renewals of Calhanoglu and Donnarumma.

The two have become such a big part of head coach Stefano Pioli’s team but both of their contracts are set to expire in 2021. The will of the management and of owners Elliott is to find an agreement by the end of the calendar year, to avoid going into January with them able to sign pre-contracts elsewhere.
