AC Milan remain in contact with Udinese over Lazar Samardzic but things are proceeding quite slowly at the moment, according to a report.
As Calciomercato.com recall, Udinese director Gianluca Nani addressed the rumours in an interview with Sky yesterday and the club reiterated a position that seemed to have been clear since June: this is the right summer to sell Samardzic.
It is a choice that goes against the club’s policy of usually selling its jewels after their best season but the perception is that of a player who no longer has the right motivation to do well with Udinese and has had his head turned by the interest from Milan.
On the one hand there are the needs of a club, Udinese, who have the legitimate desire to get the highest amount from the sale of one of their stars. Then there is Samardzic, who has rejected several offers in recent weeks because Milan are his preferred destination.
The first meeting between Milan and Udinese did not go to plan because Geoffrey Moncada, Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic consider the request of €20m plus bonuses for Samardzic excessive.
In the Rossoneri’s eyes, the 22-year-old is a talent who today is worth €15m because he has shown very positive things but not with the consistency needed to be worth more, and that is why they will not pay the asking price.
Milan are working slowly for Samardzic, convinced that the operation can be done around mid-August, and it is no coincidence that the Bianconeri are already working on the replacement identified in Ekkelenkamp.
That might help Milan get him for less, while Udinese have rejected their attempts to insert Yacine Adli into the deal as a counterpart.
Reijnders, Bennacer, Pulisic, Liberalli… and we still need CAM…
Reijnders and especially Bennacer are not CAM’s.
Liberali should go straight to Milan Futuro where he would play every week. Couple decent halves in pre-season vs teams that played players his age doesn’t automatically makes him part of the 1st team.
So outside of maybe Pulisic, Milan doesn’t have another CAM in the squad.
Samardzic would he a great signing.
The people saying we have enough players in every position are the same people who would complain and blame the management mid-season for not making important signings.
Exactly.
Hahahahahaha no. They are not the same people. You are those people.
No but they can play that role. Who would you have start in midfield then? We have Fofana, Reijnders and Bennacer and you want to bench one of them? Fofana-Bennacer double-pivot will be perfectly balanced while Reijnders given freedom is what makes him shine, those link ups and quick 1-2s, as seen during couple of Euro games.
If we want to keep Saelemakers then Pulisic will have to split his playtime at CAM as well, making him a good cover for Reijnders and for emergencies we also have Bennacer and Liberalli that can step up.
Our double pivot currently has Bennacer, Musah, Fofana* (hopefully), RLC (as seen during friendlies, his times as N10 is finally over). Reijnders of course can play here as well, but if we go with him at N10, we will need another CM/CDM type of player.
finally, by going for Ricci instead, you get way more upsides. first you get a very similar player to Bennacer but raw, we know that Bennacer will go to Saudi so you effectively give Ricci space and time to adjust and learn and when Bennacer leaves for 50M, you don’t even have to spend money since we can easily gamble on Zeroli. you also get extra Italian player that isn’t vital but helps during UCL registration.
Yes we need Samardzic of course at least to close the gap with inter Milan because enough of inter dominating serie A
Inter never dominated serie a, Juventus did 2 Times and got caught cheating both.
This lazarus boy might be the solution for CAM, considering that no one in the team is a natural no.10 who is able to dictate the game.
If puli fails as trequartista, the puzzle will start falling apart, then we are entering pioli’s limbo again.
Close the deal asap.
