CM: Patience and two counterparts – Milan’s strategy to land €45-50m target

By Oliver Fisher -

It goes without saying that Joshua Zirkzee’s name will continue to be mentioned in view of the summer transfer window, and AC Milan intend to make a concrete attempt to land him.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan know that to land Zirkzee it will take a perfect strategy and a sizeable economic package too. This is why the management are already preparing their offer to send, while concrete negotiations will begin in May and June.

Fourth place is within reach for Bologna and that is an opportunity for them to try and seize without any harmful distractions, which is why the Rossoneri will be patient.

Nonetheless, Zirkzee’s stock is rising with every game and thus so is his asking price, which is already around €45-50m and could go up even more if he finishes the season with a flurry of goals.

He has an instinct for scoring goals, the ability to create chances and the potential to grow given he is just 22, characteristics that have convinced Milan to put the Dutchman at the top of their list of preferences.

Geoffrey Moncada would like to insert a couple of counterparts to bring down the cash sum required. Alexis Saelemaekers is one, given he is at Bologna on loan with an option to buy, and Lorenzo Colombo is likely to be offered up too with a €15m valuation.

  1. Or sell Salad for 12 million, Colombo for 15mil, and pay full price 50 or 60 million for him.
Milan must use now strategy of buying 1 expensive name per year, to build very strong team for next 10 years.

    1. i prefer buy a player like Barella rather than RLC + Reinjder + Musah, that trio isn’t bad but not an upgrade (quality) & use Primavera or U23 player (mainly on loan) as backup (quantity)

  2. Zirkzee will not solve our deficit in goals and assists compared to Inter. All competitions, Zirkzee so far 10 goals and 3 assists. Not even as many as Thuram (12 goals and 7 assists), let alone Lautaro (25 goals and 2 assists). As long as Inter has Lautaro and Thuram, we won’t be able to compete. If we want to compete, we’d have to invest way more money and get a striker more closely capable to match Lautaro’s prolific goal-scoring. We won’t be able to afford one, so, I think Inter will continue to dominate us.

  3. Lol so he is worth 50mil now ? Retegui has simmilar amounts of goals, maybe even better goal per minute ratio so how is he not 50mil all of a suden ? Just cause M Unaited throw silly money for Hojlund dosent mean other clubs will do it for every striker in seria A who has scored 10 goals.

    1. Retegui is slow. Zirkzee is bigger, stronger, quicker and in a different stratosphere technically. He has incredible potential. The only centre forwards we’ve had with his skill sets are Ibrahmovic, Gullit and Van Basten.

  4. Charles De Ketalaere has already better stats than Zirksee. 10 season goals and 7 assists. So we let go a player who was already ours, who, playing as a striker and not as an attacking midfielder, already has better numbers than Zirkzee, and we want to buy Zirkzee for this much money? I don’t know…

    1. CDK is not a striker.
He’s a second striker, and he wouldn’t have succeeded at Milan as we don’t play a two striker formation. Simple as that

  5. Thank you 👍but don’t forget about the rest of the team if we’re going to compete with Inter as well as the rest of Europe especially in the coaching position and NO NOT MOTTA .
