There is a lot of work to be done on the AC Milan squad this summer, but CEO Giorgio Furlani has outlined the parameters in which the club will operate.
According to Calciomercato.com, no players are considered non-transferable and there will be sales to bring in more funds with which to operate. Chief scout Geoffrey Moncada and head coach Stefano Pioli will have a big say in the business done, but there will be an important limit.
The strategy does not only envisage a static budget of €40-50m, but it will vary according to the trend in sales and will foresee a limit of €30m as a maximum expense on each player.
The reason for the limit is that Furlani still has an eye on the accounts and as part of the contract he signed when he replaced Ivan Gazidis, he also signed in agreement that there will be a maximum figure for incoming signings.
Furlani is in fact called to do the following: “Manage relations with the players’ agents; Be the formal contact person for the heads of every line of business and every football operation of the club; Hiring, suspending and dismissing personnel, fixing salaries, negotiating, stipulating, amending and terminating acquisition or transfer agreements, in the context of sporting activity, in any form, of the rights to the performance of players, including those of the youth sector, with a single signatory limit within the limits of the annual budget approved from time to time by the Board of Directors and in any case with the limit, for each transaction, of 30,000,000 (thirty million) euros gross.”
Basically, up to €30m gross, Furlani’s signature is enough to close each transaction while for each larger transaction Gerry Cardinale’s agreement is also required.
Stingy american
The Maldini’s precedent could be a problem, if he was really fired for his mistakes on the transfer market or his desire to challenge Jerry’s mindset. Furlani won’t take any risk that would make him at stake of losing his job and he won’t try to challenge Jerry’s instructions neither.
I don’t know if Furlani is effective, time will tell, but he will kind of have his hands tied by the strategy. In the same time, it seems like we are compelled to go after guys that nobody wants, because even Aston Villa or Roma can offer better perspective or salary than Milan. This mercato will be the 12 labours of Hercules.
Good luck to Furlani and let’s hope Moncada can find some gems as he did in the past.
Yeah, I kinda pity Furliani here, the fans won’t give him time to adjust like Maldini when he first come here, he would be Cardinale scapegoat if things go south
He can just blame Pioli.
Maldini also had his hand tied too with the salary cap and constantly having to beg for funds. The problem is they made the decision to spend less and have less financial backing as well as take away one of the major pulls they had when it comes to transfers. I think Cardinale grossly underestimated that impact. In one sense of I support the club but you can’t help but be amused by the way the transfer market is being handled right now
They keep investment alright, just a small amount. Even less than Lowest premier League side
Less than lowest premier league side is correct but Milan is in champions league while lowest PL teams won’t ever come close. Milan made it to top 4 of champions league which is higher than every EPL team except Man City. Spending tons of money on players doesn’t always bring results – spending smartly does.
whatever they say about their strategy, the short version is that they don’t have the money, there’s nothing new in this news
lol we can say goodbye to SMS and any other potential targets with the price tag of above 30 M,good luck securing top 4 next season
yeah because Faildini spent that 50m last season so well
“good luck securing top 4 next season”
Juventus will be weaker next season. Inter will have to sell a key player or two to survive. Lazio cannot spend a dime before selling someone. Napoli will probably end up selling Kim or Osimhen and has already lost Spalletti. Roma on the other hand has strengthened themselves but that’s about it.
If Milan won’t lose any key players (not sure if Diaz can be called that…) and managed to secure a decent replacement for Origi, Benny, RW and #10 spot I’d say we have a better chance than this year. And those replacements don’t even have to be world-class – just better than the current ones is enough. And that’s not a lot to ask.
Juventus will likely not play in Europe, so they will have to play only on weekends. Lazio can rely on future revenues from UCL. Inter always finds a way. Napoli should rebound, Kvara, Kim and Osimhen will bring a lot of money. And as you said, Roma is better. And I was not a fan of Diaz but he did provide some goals and assists that helped.
I hope we will prevail, but it’s not going to be a piece of cake. Especially with how the mercato is going for now. Most prominent teams already started to add players and we are yet to sign Kamada, and Lord knows we need a lot of help.
Lazio has zero cash. They simply cannot buy anyone without selling first. Inter is only delaying their Judgement day. They need to pay 375M€ next May or else.
Juventus will have an exodus. Chiesa has already said he wants out. Vlahovic isn’t staying either. Di Maria has already bagged his bags etc.
Hello Europa League!
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
And other job of him, is that he can also play if things did not work out 💔💔
God save my belove ac milan from this new owner
List they made some money from the League win last year and Champions League campaign this year, their brand has also increased with the sponsorship.
What happens if they don’t even qualify for the Champions League next season, will they be putting the Coach on the market for sale to?😃
We could get sarr from Watford for about 20 million if our max is 30 per player. Being a championship player will be cheap, scores, assists, works hard and direct, just what we need on right wing. He’s also 25 so good age too.
If they are banking on free transfers they’re going to get a shock, we’ll get heavily outbid on salary by other teams.
The morons don’t raise that the reason we got the likes of Leao, Theo and Mike was because they bought into Maldini…
They dont want spend more than 30m euro for one player due to CDK failed . But of course they can still have budget 70m euro . With that we can get 2 player 20-30m euro and one player for rest budget. . Now the problem are how to get investment from CDK back ? Also get rid high salary bench warmer like rebic, origi, florenzi
Bro, sounds nice, but our recruitment team is led by a former banker Furlani and also includes Moncada, Pioli and US data analysts. The only person that is worth there is Moncada, others shouldn’t be allowed to decide anything about any player signing, but that is how it is. We literally don’t even have Maldini anymore to get some players to sign for less because a legend like him called him. Now Pioli is the one making calls and I guess the analyst banker Furlani is going to get someone to sign because he worked in bank for a long time and player appreciate that. We lost the only real pull we had, since the funds are not there and we want to pay everyone 50% from what others are offering. Tielemans was offered 3M, Aston Villa gave him 5M. This story will continue until they panic and sign what is left.
So is SMS at 35m to be rejected because of CDK? Nonsense. I just don’t think they’re interested in challenging for trophies…remember their words were ‘competitive’
Is seriously push for a CDK plus money for SMS
Hahahahahahaha!!!! Che Grande Milan! Grazie Cardinalé!!!! Love the AMBITION!!!
SMS is 35M – ahhhhhhh!!!! We miss out on him because we can only spend 30M lol. Maybe Lipton will give us a discount when Furlani calls him up lol. Damn that would only leave 5M left over. Perhaps we can use that 5M and pay someone to take Balo Toure off our hands hahahahaha! This gets better and better each day.
So glad Maldini is gone so he doesn’t have to deal with this $hit show Redbird are running right now.
Letting our best players go on free transfer is the biggest mistake, and buying retired players for strikers is another error, No replacement for our Lost, imagine Lossing Hacan to inter, all of this will cost the management furious,
Let imagine a team without the key post in the game of football, No 10,No 9,No 7.
Check the history of football this are the numbers that matters & they the numbers for world best.
We are out of finals Best of all this numbers, every matches lost was because of Leo and Theo not inform or absence.
So if you are the owner of such team what will you do?
