CM: Milan targeting €20m-rated Barcelona youngster to address key issue

A new Theo Hernandez-type signing. This is what AC Milan are looking for on the market to reinforce the right flank, where Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria have failed to convince. In other words, the directors are at work.

Among the many names considered in recent weeks, as reported by Calciomercato.com, there is one that kept coming up: Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior, better known as Emerson.

The Brazilian right-back, born in 1999, currently plays for Real Betis and is considered as one of the best players in his role. In 23 games, he has managed 3 goals and 5 assists, attracting the interest of several big clubs.

Emerson’s loan at Betis will expire in 2021, when he will return to Barcelona. However, no scenario should be excluded, as the report continues, not even an early return to the Catalan side to be sold to the highest bidder.

The price tag is set at €20m and multiple clubs are keeping tabs on the situation, including AC Milan. For the Rossoneri, it would solve a major problem as the right-hand side of the defence hasn’t been up to par as of late.

Of course, Milan would have to sell a few players for the operation, starting with Calabria or Conti. Furthermore, it doesn’t look like they will redeem Alexis Saelemaekers, saving a further €3.5m.
