CM: Milan targeting Italian midfielder with registration rules in mind

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are plotting a move for Monza midfielder Andrea Colpani as they attempt to ensure registration rules do not become a problem next season, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan are aware that they could struggle to fulfil the homegrown section of the squad registration for Serie A next season.

Right now, Mattia Caldara is the key player in this regard and registration was the main reason behind him staying at the club in the summer.

With him out of contract in June 2024 and Alessandro Florenzi also set to leave the club unless a new deal is agreed, Milan could do with signing players trained in Italian youth systems.

One of the best examples currently within Serie A is Monza’s Colpani, who has enjoyed a superb start to the season. Colpani has four goals from the first eight games and he has been scoring goals of a very high quality.

  1. Good player, Colpani.

I’ve kept a close eye on Casadei at Leicester, too.

From the perspective of development, the Championship is probably the equal of France or even Spain because it is so physical and such a frantic pace.

He is very solid and his technique is standing up to the pressure. I reckon he could be a special 4/6 given his technique, size and physicality. He certainly also works in box to box and more attacking roles.

    1. Casadei would be great. Unfortunately I don’t see Chelsea selling him for less than €40mn and they might even integrate him into Pochettinos 1st XI next season.

Scalvini at CB would be incredible too but he’ll probably end up in the PL next year too.

      1. It doesn’t necessarily Mena he’ll go to the EPL, I’ve heard the lad wants to stay in Serie A. But the problem would be the huge asking price by Atalanta, as they got used on selling their players for big. prices. Maybe we could get something from them thanks to Dr Katelare deal we made, something like a friendly leverage. Maybe.
However, I truly like this fellow and if he continues to develop in this way, it’ll be great to have him, although our midfield appears to be complete by now, we still. need Italian player in it.
And Casadei, besides being way more expensive, he’s Inter boy, and it’s a question whether he’ll like to come, especially if Leicester decides to buy him out!

  2. If chelsea failed to play in CL next season , go buy casadei, he is good at 433 , have good shooting accuracy . We can deploy him as RLC replacement

  3. Casadei, Scalvini, Colpani, Carnesecchi/Turati. Hell if he wanted to, just buy Pessina back.

But if we really integrate Colombo to the team next season and keep current players, we can have 8 local players…

    Calabria
    Pobega
    Colombo
    Bartesaghi
    Gabbia

    Florenzi
    Sportiello
    Mirante/other new backup Italian GK

      1. That’s why I said keep current players… mean if we renew the contract. Which we should if he agree to lower his salary.

Otherwise we need to get other Italian homegrown.

  4. No need to buy Italian players with high fees unless will be a starter if we’re gonna sign a bench player go for free signings or older cheaper signings like florenzi

      1. Even if one of Adli or Kunic is out, we still don’t need another midfielder when Bennacer return from injury. New RB/CB make more sense but only if Kjaer is out.
