CM: Milan likely to terminate loan of Chelsea midfielder early – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled to get playing time since joining AC Milan on loan from Chelsea last summer. In fact, he hasn’t played a single minute in the last seven games and an exit is now likely.

Knowing that Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie would take part in the AFCONS, Milan decided to bring in Bakayoko on a two-year loan last summer. However, he has really struggled to impress and the playing time has been scarce.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, the lack of playing time is simply a technical choice by Stefano Pioli and doesn’t have anything to do with the €15m option in Bakayoko’s contract.

The option will be automatically triggered if the Frenchman reaches 15 appearances of at least 45 minutes, but those terms are only valid for next season. This year doesn’t count, therefore, and the most concrete option is that Milan will terminate the loan already in the summer.

  1. Maybe they’re looking for a way to get him on a free transfer by not playing him but we all know that I’m wrong.
