CM: Milan watching RB Leipzig star who admits to idolising Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan know that they will almost certainly have to invest in a new striker next summer, and they are monitoring Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

Calciomercato.com report that Milan have their eye on a few young profiles who are candidates to become the starting centre-forward for the future, given Olivier Giroud’s age and the doubts about alternatives.

Milan consider Sesko to be ‘one of the most fascinating profiles’ they are monitoring. Having moved from Salzburg to Leipzig last summer for €24m, the Slovenia international has already scored three goals in his first six appearances this season.

He is under contract until June 2028 and made the decision to stay within the Red Bull circle with his move to the Bundesliga, but rumours of a potential sale next summer are already swirling.

In the meantime, the 20-year-old addressed some of the stories in the media and gave a nod to a Milan icon.

“Don’t compare me to Haaland. We only have height and speed in common, our style of play is different. He is one of the best footballers in the world, but I would like to just be myself,” he said.

“I liked watching Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he was entertaining and had fun on the pitch doing what he wanted. When I see a player like him, I feel really happy.

Before the transfer to Leipzig there were also discussions with some English clubs, but I preferred to go to a league more similar to the one I played in. In the future it would be nice to play in the Premier League, for now I’m focusing on the present and then we’ll see.”
