Milan have been heavily linked with Josip Ilicic in the last few weeks as the experienced Slovenian wants to leave Atalanta before the season starts. And for the Rossoneri, he could be very useful.
As reported by Calciomercato.com, in a transfer window that has been characterised by low-cost signing, Ilicic could indeed be an option for Milan. However, this will only happen on a few conditions, with two in mind.
The first is to sign the player on loan with an option to buy, while the other is a low compensation for a permanent deal. As of now, Atalanta have asked for €7-8m which is too much in Milan’s eyes, which you can understand.
With that said, the arrival of Ilicic wouldn’t exclude the signing of another playmaker. The 33-year-old would perhaps be more useful on the right as the Rossoneri intend to bring in a stronger name for the playmaker role.

I think a loan makes sense. His age means he’s not a long term part of Milan’s plans anyway and he’s a nice complement at RW to Alexis. Atalanta get to save on his wages. And the player gets to go where he wants. Sounds like wins all around. If Milan don’t get/go after Barardi then this is a good consolation low risk move.
His best position is AMC, he even played as a striker more times than he played as a RW.
Atalanta are a money making machine. They loaned romero from juventus with option to buy for €16mil. Now they bought him and sold him right away to spurs for around 50mil. Wauw I say. And if lukaku leaves inter, they probably gonna sell zapata to inter and gain a profit aswell.
Now they want 8 mil for a player that is not even a part of their plans and has a contract expiring by the end of this 21/22 season. Let them keep him or sell him for €3mil. Dont think a loan is possible, since its his last season.
On Josip Ilicic’s transfermarkt profile it shows theres an option for another year just like with giroud so unfortunately its not the case as the club just can renew and thereby add his value.
