CM: Asking price, commissions, player’s will – Milan working on Samardzic coup

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have formally opened talks over signing Lazar Samardzic but there are various aspects to the deal that must be considered.

According to Calciomercato.com, what until a few days ago seemed like a simple suggestion is becoming an increasingly concrete option for the Rossoneri. After signing Alvaro Morata and with Strahinja Pavlovic and Youssouf Fofana hopefully to follow, Samardzic’s name also emerged.

Milan have already carried out exploratory enquiries and have had contact with the boy’s father, Mladen, who is also his agent. Now, the discussions between the clubs are also underway and more concrete talks are expected on Monday.

Udinese want around €25m to sell the Serbian but Milan are aiming to reduce this, given that a little less than a year ago Inter closed a loan with obligation deal for €20m plus Giovanni Fabbian as a counterpart before the father-agent’s requests saw the deal collapse.

What will play an important role is the desire of Samardzic himself, who after seeing moves to Inter and Napoli break down wants a step forward in his career and a transfer to a top club. The 22-year-old wants to play in the Champions League, which is why he has rebuffed interest from some teams.

One of the issues to be addressed remains the commissions owed to the player’s entourage and his father Mladen. Last January, in discussions with Napoli, the request for the commissions was around €3m. The Joshua Zirkzee saga shows that Milan will only pay what they deem as fair.

  1. His father and agent concerns me. I do hope we can get this deal done, but I just hope it isn’t with any drama.

And we still need a DM.

    1. I seriously hope we will pull the plug this time and get the deal done cos Samardzic will surely represent a smart business and will give our midfield some edge against Inter though it’s all on the Coach…. Anticipating a great Season this time… With right acquisitions such as Pavlovic, Fofana, Samardzic and at least Fullkrug.

  2. So the other team (Inter and Napoli) backed down from signing a player because of 3m commission and they are fine, no backlash from their fan but we got backlash because we refuse to pay 15m commission for Zirkzee?

Yeah… That shows what kind of fans we have. Truly fortunate. Hehe

    1. Yeah, unfortunately, for some fans, they just hope to sign flashy names with “promising” (not guaranteed) quality, and don’t care if Milan can potentially become an ATM for Kia, and also potentially will give bad domino effect for the agents of our other current players lol.
And now, even some of them say Musah is “too expensive” for 20 millions, which was rarely heard when Milan first signed him.
I am not a fan of this management, but for their decision to back off from JZ, I am 100% with them. What I hope management could do something is about the salary cap. Maybe they can increase slightly for our proven players, so that we won’t lose Theo for instance. Just my opinion.

    2. The fans here wouldn’t be satisfied if we went into a time machine and signed a 25 year old Messi. They cry about everything. Everything is wrong. The whole world is crashing.

But yea thats an interesting point lol.

    3. It’s not about the 3ml the reason inter run away from that deal inter got annoyed with the behavior of samardzic’s father because he started to demand money for the last minute he supposed to tell them in the first for the commission

      1. “X got annoyed with the behavior of Y because he started to demand money for the last minute he supposed to tell them in the first for the commission”

Just like Taremi. Just like Kessie. Just like Zirkzee.

    4. Ah let’s feed the war between fans, let’s show that you’re the best kind of fan. Such lack of self confidence that you feel the need to sht on other people is sad. Maybe one day you’ll understand that some fans don’t care about the budget and don’t think that winning is boring.

Regarding Zirkee, it’s been an absolute masterpiece of monitoring and wasting precious time since January to get ridiculous again and going for Morata who is the complete opposite. Budget move, as usual.

      1. Bartholomeo, you are a menace in the comments haha. I can’t always share your views on management, but you definitely have the right mindset. Love your comments.

Which players do you think we should realistically sign and which ones should we sell?

        1. Haha bro I’m good to build a solid Milan team at FIFA like many of us but in real life I’m not a professional football executive, it’s not my full time job and I’m not paid heavily for that so I’ll just be humble here. But if you want my opinion, I think that a management that wins a Scudetto in three years with limited resources while developing world class players and going to UCL semifinals is better for Milan than a management saying explicitly we’re good at 4th and that won nothing while making dubious choices for the coach and the squad.

      2. This guy proves everything. Milan is in a Catch 22. Also signing Zirkzee for some absurd amount of money doesn’t guarantee trophies. Meanwhile Morata is like Ibrahimovic. He wins where ever he goes…

    5. Must disagree with this , Think most fans here support the club in not paying 15 million commission and blame the agent not the club

    6. Where did you see backlash because of failed Zirkzee deal? Most of us backed the management in their decision not to oay that ridiculous amount. You’re just stirring the pot here without a reason pal.

      1. That’s what I’m trying to figure out too. Backlash? I don’t think, even the ones who are more critical of management, that ppl are somehow fine with paying such a large commission. If anything the issue might be once they know it’s too high just move on instead of dragging on. And it’s either u pay up or shut up. If they really wanted their man they could have gotten him by paying. If the price tag too high then next…. That’s the “backlash”??? I’ll hv to respectfully disagree
Also, getting a player like Zirkzee is very much different from Samar, isn’t it

        1. Without any respect to AR, she is always a a**licker. No one went against the mgmnt after failed Zirkzee. The difference between Inter/Juve and us is that they go to a negotiation fully prepared. Either they sign within 2/3 days or don’t. They don’t waste anyone’s time.

    7. How do you know there was no backlash from their fans? Do you browser napoli and inter sits?

Also 15M and 3M are two very different numbers. You win the jackpot 3M vs you win a 15M jackpot…

  3. 3 millions is kinda at upper limit for what Milan have paid for agent commission, but imo, that number is still okay, although somewhere around 1.8 mil might more make sense and ideal.
But hey, it is not my money anyway lol.

    1. 3 millions it’s OK, even 17yo players the agent ask for 1m, Samardzic is a young and promising player, we lack one like him with true offensive skills, not like the CM we are carrying them as a burden, and he knows SerieA quite wel’, we need more calciatori accustomed to Italian League

  4. We’ve been following him since his Hertha Berlin days where Maldini tried to convince him to join. He is good addition but we already have a few attacking or box to box mids so where would he play? Reinjders is unstoppable. Loftus cheek wont be dropped + we need balance by having a more defensive player which is Bennacer. If he is sold then fofana takes his stop. So my question is why spend 25m for him to sit on the bench? We also have Adli, Musah, Pobega if he is not sold so its a luxury signing. Much rather see us invest that into a good CF.

    1. Adli And Musah, for the latter he came just for marketing purpose, they can be offload and no one gonna miss them the same goes on for RLC, Pobega though I’m not fan, is crucial for the rules registration, having some defensive skills,

      1. True. I like Aldi. Pioli never gave him a chance to play his natural position. He is good player and has great attitude. Musah wont be sold and to be fair at 20 he will only get better. Pobega has been disappointing. I guess injuries haven’t helped. If we can offload him it would be good. For Italian quota we have Kevin Zeroli now.

      2. If Musah is converted into a defensive midfielder and he plays there consistently, he will be a monster. Himself and Fofana (if he arrives eventually) will form a Brick wall in the front of our defence.. Musah will come really good for us, little surprise Conte is struggling to steal him from us.
