Fiorentina and Atalanta are both circling in the hopes of being able to land Tommaso Pobega from AC Milan this summer, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.com, the good first season in Serie A with Spezia on loan seems to have strengthened Pobega, who impressed during yesterday’s 6-0 friendly win over Pro Sesto with two assists and is set to be one of the most talked about players in the market.
Milan need to move the outgoing market after the approximately €60m invested to date by Elliott Management and Pobega – who turned 22 yesterday – could be one of the sacrifices made. It is no mystery that Atalanta and Fiorentina have come forward in recent weeks given his talent, with the former looking for a player with his characteristics as an alternative to Teun Koopmeiners of AZ Alkmaar.
Under contract until June 2025, the Rossoneri management want between €10-15m for Pobega, given the season he had with Spezia and his presence in the U21 national team. However, given Kessie’s absence due to the Olympics and the lack of a fourth midfielder at the moment, he will have amply time to show Milan his quality.
He could yet convince Pioli to give him an opportunity during a season that promises to be full of commitments, but if he were sold – along with Jens Petter Hauge – then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have some money to use again.
