CM: Milan’s budget for the summer window outlined – Rangnick had asked for over 3x as much

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working with a vastly reduced budget compared to what Ralf Rangnick was asking for.

That is according to Calciomercato.com, who are reporting that Maldini and Massara have approximately €30million available for the transfer market, to which any proceeds from sales will be added.

That’s why the Rossoneri club is pushing for the farewell of player like Davide Calabria, whose €12-13million fee – all capital gains – would be an important injection of funds.

The renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a priority and the deal with Chelsea for Tiemoue Bakayoko is a loan with option (and not obligation) to buy at €30-32m.

Milan’s strategies have changed over the last few months as Rangnick seemed almost certain to arrive but a U-turn was done and Stefano Pioli was given a new deal.

The plug was pulled on Rangnick’s arrival as he had asked for €100m to work in the summer window, an amount that Elliott Management could not make available in large part due to the effects of COVID-19 on the club’s finances.
