Theo Hernandez will miss the next two games against Udinese and Bologna due to suspension, and it has once again reignited doubts among the AC Milan management about the deputy left-back role.
As Calciomercato.com report, at the moment head coach Paulo Fonseca is picking between Filippo Terracciano and Alex Jimenez to replace the Frenchman for the next two league games, with both having had very little playing time of late so it is not an ideal situation.
As a result, Geoffrey Moncada is looking towards the January window and the chance to sign a new player for the left side of the defence, with a particular emphasis on signing an Italian player for squad list reasons.
Fabiano Parisi of Fiorentina and Giuseppe Pezzella of Empoli are top of the list. The former has been linked previously and is not getting much playing time due to the presence of Gosens and Biraghi, while the latter is the protagonist of a great start to the season with the Azzurri.
Due to his characteristics, Pezzella would be more suited to Milan’s philosophy for the role given he is physically well-built and with a natural offensive vocation. The excellent relationship with Empoli – seen by the fact Devis Vasquez and Lorenzo Colombo are there – could help the negotiations.
As for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, the total approval of the Rossoneri is confirmed. Moncada likes the Dane a lot but the issue regarding the squad lists and the high costs of the transfer fee make this path practically impossible for the January market.
Should buy piton from vasco da gama
Giuseppe Pezzella is the best option out of this list. He can also compete with Theo for a starting spot which what we need. Someone good enough to compete with Theo for a starting spot. Not a backup. Smh
We just need to give bartesaghi more game time.
Pavlovic should be deployed as left back
With tomori gabbia. Emerson royal can go more forward. And we got 3 CB pavlovic tomori gabbia. When needed Fofana help as fourth
Hes beginning his search eh? Wow
I guess Terraciano and Jimenez were signed for fun
Neither one of those is a Left sided player🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He was too busy reading GQ instead of scouting reports.
Lol beginning the search now. What was the purpose of spending on Terraciano and Jimenez? Why do Moncash*t’s errors and mistakes always go quiet?
Jimenez is a decent player but is playing out of position. He’s likely a better RW than a LB. He is good in offense but can’t defend his school lunch. So Moncada thinking that Jimenez can be a deputy for Theo is a failure.
Terracciano is just bad all around. He is clueless and useless. Again, hiring him to be Theo’s deputy is bad judgement and big failure from Moncada.
Given Moncada’s record on this, I have little hope that he’ll get us a suitable LB deputy. If Theo leaves which I think is very likely, we’ll be in even bigger trouble.
I don’t think we want to get an “analogue” to Theo. I think it would be better to have a more defensive type for situational appearances/substitutions.
