CM: Moncada strongly wants Spurs defender with new offer made – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have presented a new offer to Spurs in an attempt to get Emerson Royal through the door as quickly as possible, according to a report.

The club confirmed to us that Alessandro Florenzi underwent an MRI and specialist evaluation yesterday which highlighted ligament and meniscal damage, with the consequent need to undergo arthroscopic surgery which he will return to Italy for. His season could therefore already be over.

According to Calciomercato.com, Florenzi’s injury means that Milan have decided to accelerate for Emerson Royal. Tottenham softened their position by dropping from a valuation of €20m to €18m, bonuses included.

The Brazilian full-back is pushing hard to join the Rossoneri and already has a verbal agreement over personal terms. He would sign a five-year contract, therefore a deal that would run until 2029.

Milan have presented a second offer of €14m in the last few hours, but Spurs have not yet given the green light to the operation because they want €15m guaranteed plus €3m in easily achievable bonuses.

The negotiations are continuing with the feeling that a handshake will soon arrive. In the next few hours more talks are expected because Milan want to get Emerson in quickly and have him join the squad ASAP.

The 25-year-old is a precise choice of Geoffrey Moncada who has been following him for years and considers him the ideal reinforcement for Fonseca and the right flank. After Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic, Emerson could be the third signing.

  1. Why?

It seems we have little to no transfer budget without selling, so why waste the money?

Calabria and Kalulu will do well. Jimenez can also add an attacking dimension (plus we spent 5m on him).
If Alexis stays he could also do well as an attacking full back

    1. Calabria has not and will not do well. He offers very little going forward and now his defense which used to be his strength has become a weakness. Anyone with any pace goes by him easily. I think Kalulu is a better option at RB but he is often injured.

    2. Calabria has been mediocre for years. He is a problem. Kalulu has fitness issues. And now Florenzi is out for the entire season. We have a budget.

Emerson Royal isn’t my first choice, but no one can sit here and say we are fine at RB. We are lacking there. And Kalulu normally played as CB.

      1. More importantly I have watched them since they started. Form is temporary

Kalulu has the talent to be at the very top and Calabria has been a good reliable home grown player.
E.Royale has not done much recently

          1. Dreamland is signing a 31 year old striker who averaged less that 9 league goals across 4 seasons in Serie A (in his prime) and claiming we have sorted the long standing issue.
Perhaps diverting funds from signing an unnecessary RB towards a young striker would make more sense

        1. Yes with Calabria, Kalulu, Jimenez and Alexis we have 4 different profiles for the role, so yes we are covered.

Perhaps addressing a position like DM where we have NOBODY should be the priority!
If you are so concerned about the budget why would you spend money somewhere it is not needed?
Sure positions can always be upgraded, but that happens after we actually have players for all roles

  2. Can we tie Moncada up?!

I understand that either Kalulu or Fonseca didn’t like the RB experiment, hence why he only has played at CB during friendlies, but this doesn’t make sense no matter how you look at it.

Kayode, when Dodo returned from injury and priors time isn’t guaranteed, is a great homegrown Udogie-esque aggressive fullback… how are we so oblivious, it’s hard to grasp

  3. Not a fan of him but given its a specific ask by Fonseca and Moncada has been following him relentlessly he could turn his fortunes around. Ie pulisic didn’t have the best impact in EPL either but he is now a completely reborn. At 25 her already played for Betis, Barça and Spurs + 15-20 caps for Brazil. Not a bad resume. Maybe he can add a threat like theo does.

    1. several ate their words with Moncada and Pulisic…

Royal has excellent physical atributes and migth jsut need the right system coaach…. lets see

  4. It is modern cardinale milan time. Less italian means more modern. Buy royal, then dump former italian captain calabria.

      1. How does this work? Like, within the context of world football, is it specifically Italians or just non-nationals? Like, have Arsenal just become LESS woke, signing Calafiori, or MORE woke signing another foreigner?

What about duel nationals? Do they count half toward a teams wokeness, or are they completely invalid until they pick a national team?

        1. I’m afraid you’ll be waiting in eternity then.
These people still stuck in the past where they think italy still have zambrotta, oddo, etc

        2. I will name you a bunch who are better then this Emerson guy, starting with Calabria, Florenzi, Di Lorenzo, Belanova, Darmian. But if you cant see that this Milan is chasing away all the Italians then there is no hope for you no matter what you are smoking.

    1. Yea you’re right. Italy is exploding with RB talent. I saw so many at the Euro’s Spaletti had to choose from and he ended up with…… wait…. DiLorenzo?

      Odd …

      1. And where did he said that it is exploding with RB talent? You people always have to take things out of context to make a false point. Going with your logic why did we bought americans ? Are they exploding with talent ?

  5. So is it Moncada or Fonseca who specifically asked for Emerson? The fact is that he’s been on the management radar since last season.

  6. Something fishy here with this Moncada insistence for this dead wood. Maybe an underground deal with Emerson agents for commissions ? Who knows…
