CM: Morata works alone in the rain – Venezia and Liverpool circled on the calendar

By Oliver Fisher -

Paulo Fonseca gave the AC Milan squad four days off during the international break but that does not apply to Alvaro Morata as he showed up anyway to continue his recovery from a muscle injury.

As Calciomercato.com report, Morata showed up at the training ground today to work alone on the field in the pouring rain that has soaked most of northern Italy, while the rest of the Rossoneri players who were not called up by their countries will report again on Monday afternoon.

The former Atletico Madrid player is not wasting time and is aiming to recover from the muscle injury that has kept him out of the last two games as soon as possible, with a specific target in mind regarding his return.

The report states that the hope is that Morata will be available to Fonseca again after the break, with the Venezia game at San Siro on Saturday 14 September 2024 at 20:45 CEST circled in red on the calendar.

However, the 31-year-old will not be rushed, especially because Milan will face Liverpool in the first matchday of the league phase of the new Champions League on Tuesday 17 September at 21:00, a game where his goals and experience will be very useful.

It is possible that he plays a portion of the game off the bench against Venezia to then warm his engines up in view of the European match and also the derby against Inter that immediately follows.

Morata made his debut with a goal against Torino off the bench in round one, sparking a comeback, but has had to sit out since. Thankfully the arrival and immediate impact of Tammy Abraham mean that Fonseca can manage things a bit more peacefully.
