CM: Pioli to give new Milan trio more playing time in upcoming games

By Isak Möller -

A hectic schedule awaits for AC Milan as they will play six games in 19 days, starting with Newcastle on Tuesday evening. Therefore, Stefano Pioli is expected to give the new signings more playing time.

A total of ten signings arrived this summer and Pioli has already made good use of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijndrrs and Christian Pulisic. In the upcoming games, another new trio will get the chance more as well.

According to Calciomercato.com, the players in question are Samuel Chukwueze, Yunus Musah and Noah Okafor. The former could even get the chance from start against Newcastle, replacing Pulisic on the right flank.

Musah is expected to get the chance from start against Hellas Verona, given that the usual midfield could be confirmed against Newcastle. Okafor, on the other hand, could get more space already against the English side (it remains to be seen if from start or off the bench).

As said, depth will be crucial for Milan and Pioli in what is a very hectic period.

  1. Pioli may be salvageable afterall. It is a pity that we needed such a humiliating thrashing from Inter for him to start considering to reshuffle the starting lineup and start using some of our younger new players. I would try Musah instead of Krunic, despite being aware of the fact that DM may not be Musah’s preferred position, and furthermore would play Pulisic as a playmaker or behind a striker, whilst deploying Chukwueze on the right flank. This way we would have a more fluid, balanced and quality line-up.

    1. not really. We been doing the inverted fullbacks all summer and the best course of action right now is to drop that, go back to the old system, with new players and everything will be golden?
If only this was fifa manger and you really could just slot some names in for the old ones and it works {snapsfingers} just like that

    2. We will still finish top 3 in Serie A and can even win if Inter lose some games but still this is embarrassing losing 5 times in 8 months. No minutes for Pollegrino despite our abysmal defense. He should try Thiaw as a DM, that might be better than playing Krunic there. He still played a tired Pulisic instead of Chuk. You can’t judge him based on small cameo’s, he needs some real playing time. What was the point of signing so many new players when Pioli will still be this predictable.

        1. Any of them would be better than Krunic in my opinion. It would give much more stability in our defense. Look how Pep did it with John Stones, but yeah, Pioli is not Pep.

          1. I like Thiaw going forward. But none of that matters if its gunna be a high press that leaves 1 on 1s with the CBs unless its Ake, Akanji and Dias standing in the back…

      1. One thing u need to know is that as fast pioli is still Milan’s coach inter will continue to beat Milan pioli is not a good coach he will never learn, he continue to have lovers on d pitch, we have good players that can beat Inter but d discipline, d seriousness and d team play is not there, who can give d team that if not d coach who has prefered players even though they mediocre players all I see on d match day was ac Milan individuals vs inter team play, pioli must be sack I kept saying this since last season.

    1. We loose the derby it hurt so much now we have to move forward and work with fully planning . It’s a game so loosing and winning is part of game we all want to win nobody wish to loose but don’t loose hope and keep supporting … Milan

  2. People have been saying this clown called Pioii is not a good coach but I usually argued. Right now, the best thing the management can do is to start thinking of another coach next year. The Pioli can only do anything meaning with luck. He lacks that technical know-how expected of a tactician. We bought Chukwueze for about 30m and yet Pili is taking years to integrate him. So rigid a coach. He just need to leave.

  3. Let me say.just can’t believe some of
You so called fans .Yes we need to make changes .pioli knows that .
The fact remains are problem is winning against inter
This is just one defeat .we will not lose many games this season
I have said before season begun that i believe that the scudetto is between us and inter
So that’s good news as it means at the worst we come second .
Of course we have to use our complete squad
    of players
.I said Oliver Giroud will score at least 20 goals this season
We can and should beat Newcastle.
So let’s not panic yet .
I am sure that inter will lose games against teams we have already beat
It’s along road ahead let’s keep on it
    We are AC Milan

  4. Honestly, I hope Milan lose the game against Newcastle, if that will make it easier to sack Pioli. It’s better to lose now and rebuild straight away than to err on the side of ephemeral victories and lose the title later by missing out on qualification for the next Champions League. We wouldn’t be playing in the Champions League this year if Juve hadn’t been punished. We must never forget that.

  5. I don’t understand Pioli. You have requested for players you claimed to fit your game plan but you are afraid to use them. That will be a total waste. Rotate these players if truly have confidence in signing them. A good coach vary alternative formation with these crop of players.
Instead of using fullbacks as midfielder in 4-3-3 formation he could rather use 4-4-2 with the same strategy by having 4 attackers with fullbacks supporting the Midfield against Inter.
