Napoli have agreed on a contract with Massimiliano Allegri to replace Antonio Conte, but with no agreement in sight between him and AC Milan, they are stuck in limbo.
Antonio Conte announced his decision to leave Napoli at the end of the season, and it was fully confirmed just a few days ago. Unlike Milan, the Partenopei have actually moved quickly to replace the 56-year-old, reaching an agreement with Allegri.

However, since Allegri is technically still under contract with Milan until 2027, that deal must be terminated before he can sign with Napoli. Seeing as the Rossoneri want to move on from him, and he wants to join the Partenopei, it was initially thought that it would be easy, but…
Negotiations at a standstill
According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Allegri and Milan had yet another meeting to try to resolve the situation, but the green light didn’t arrive. The gaffer has demanded €2m for himself, along with €3m for his staff, but Gerry Cardinale doesn’t want to pay a penny.
The Milan owner is claiming that Allegri had reached an agreement with Napoli before the end of the 2025-26 season, which would justify not giving him a severance package. He won’t back down from that stance, even if it means paying another season’s worth of wages.
In the meantime, Napoli are waiting for their new coach and will give it another 7-10 days before sounding the alarm, potentially looking for other managers.
Ha! Labour laws exist for a reason. Can’t sign a contract, then renege on it and then think you don’t have to pay for your decisions. There’s a cost to stay the course as there is a cost to change course. Nothing is free

Mr Cardinale, Glasner will not be our favourite please give us what we want and limiting Ibrahimovic is not an ideal at all is like making him useless give us solid coaches that have tactical ideas not a coach that love to play 3- man defence we have learnt our lesson from max Allegri please give us coach like Sebastian Horneb, Mauricio Pochettino or Mattias jassle not Glasner a coach with Europa experience only can’t coach a club like Milan. Mind you Acmilan is not an Europa team they’re champions league team we supposed to be in champions league because we are bringing less coach without tactics efficient which is not wise if Glasner fail at Milan it will pain us the most so please Give us a sound coach not Oliver Glasner we are not interested in him thank you.

In this moment I would put a clause in contract with any new coach, a clause that can stop immediately the contract whiteout any compensation in case the team doesn’t finish in 1-4 places at the end of the season. If the new coach don’t accept such a clause , I interrupt any negotiations and I searched for a coach who accepts such a clause. If you don’t agree a clause like ke this in a club like Milan means to me you don’t have trust in yourself and in your quality.
Unfortunately with cardinale this is how business works:
No one can promise or do work in one season, so they have to or must to agree for 2 or 3 year contract. With some kind of form in contract where coach “must” gain minimal objectives.
So like Portuguese coaches it how like Allegri get fired.
But they can be on contract until end of it. Motta is still on Juventus paycheck.
Problem is that cardinale way of functioning doesnt produce sporting results
