CM: Obligation to buy triggered for Messias – the amount Milan will receive

By Oliver Fisher -

After the sale of Rade Krunic to Fenerbahce, AC Milan can count on making more money through exits as Junior Messias will become a permanent Genoa player.

After the arrival of Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze and Luka Romero in the summer transfer window, the decision was made to allow Messias to find a new club after a couple of seasons at Milan, and Genoa was where he ended up.

The Brazilian joined the Grifone on a season-long loan with an option to buy that would become an obligation under the achievement of certain conditions, and according to Calciomercato.com all of the boxes were ticked yesterday.

They write that the point obtained yesterday by Genoa against Torino did not only make the Rossoblù coach Gilardino happy but also Milan, because the clause for the mandatory buy-out of Messias was triggered.

The Rossoneri will not make a fortune from his sale, but around €3m will enter the accounts which for a player over 30 who was not part of the plans constitutes a fair return. He has nine appearances and one goal for them this season.

As a reminder, it was confirmed yesterday that Krunic has been sold to Fenerbahce on a loan with obligation to buy deal.

It is believed that Milan will get €3-5m for the sale of the Bosnian, and we addressed how things took such a cynical turn between the player and the club in a feature published on Friday.

  1. 3 from Messias, 2 mil from Rebic, 5 from Krunic, 23 from CDK, 10 from Saelemaekers, maybe another 10 from Colombo sale, that’s around 50 mil already available for spending on top of the 50 mil automatic transfer budget, = 100 mil for the new coach in the summer.
Too bad Milan will never be able to get rid of Origi and Ballo Toure, especially Origi.

    1. Don’t worry! Moneyball Moncada is on the scene!

Expect more Chukwueze and Reijnders type signings. Tens of millions of dollars that don’t produce much.

Then, we’ll sign someone and Pioli won’t play him because he doesn’t fit Pioli’s style or maybe with Pioli’s trainings he’ll get injured too.

  2. “AC Milan can announce that Ante Rebić has joined Beşiktaş JK on a permanent deal. The Club would like to thank Ante and wishes him all the best in his personal life and professional career,” the statement read.
Milan reportedly sold the player for an initial fee of €500k plus an additional €1.5m in bonuses. The Rossoneri could thus bank a total of €2m from the transfer.”

    1. Well you might be right then but the part you posted also says “reportedly sold” which seems more like speculation and transfermarkt says it was on a free transfer so its contradictive.

Where did you get that info from ?

    2. How did you manage to read that as Milan is getting 2M? Milan got 500k and for the 1.5 in bonuses I’m sure there are certain conditions to be met. The transfer is 500k, with additional 1.5M potentially, hardly in the next few months…

      1. @Fabrizio Romano
Ante Rebić will fly to Istanbul on Sunday to be unveiled as new Besiktas player — documents exchanged between clubs tonight. ⚪️⚫️🦅 #Besiktas

◉ €2m package to AC Milan, add ons included.
◉ Permanent transfer, contract until June 2025.

        …to be announced this weekend.

Read that. Maybe you’ll figure it out.

        1. Romano is generally a very good source but i would say its more in the line of predicting transfers but i’ll at least give the statement more credit then but its still before it was actually signed so not really sure what to think here. We shouldn’t forget either that Rebic was on a hefty salary while at AC Milan and one that is probably also well beyond what Besiktas usually pays their players so assuming it was on a free transfer isn’t too far fetched either to even make it possible to begin with.

          1. AC Milans official statement in regard of Rebic Joining Besiktas.

            “OFFICIAL STATEMENT: ANTE REBIĆ
The transfer of the striker to Beşiktaş JK is official
AC Milan can announce that Ante Rebić has joined Beşiktaş JK on a permanent deal.

The Club would like to thank Ante and wishes him all the best in his personal life and professional career.”

          2. What are you trying to achieve here?
Rebic left on a permanent transfer. I post it 2 sources where it says that.
Both sources confirm that it wasn’t free as you claim. I don’t care if it’s 500k, 2 million, or 1 cent . He didn’t leave for free, as the all-knowing transfermarkt says.

          3. Im not trying to do anything but both sources you are posting are pre transfer and its not official statements.

“Transfer” doesn’t mean money is involved either. i can transfer money, sure, but i can also transfer school so the word doesn’t mean money is involved. Either way this was just a discusion on the matter so no malice intended from my side.
