CM: Optimism filters as Milan close in on €7m renewal – Donnarumma ready to sign

By Isak Möller -

Gigio Donnarumma’s contract will expire next summer but fortunately, he’s getting closer and closer to a renewal with Milan. A necessity for the latter, of course, as losing one of the best goalkeepers for free isn’t an option.

According to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, there have been positive contacts in the last few hours with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola. In fact, the negotiations between the parties are proceeding smoothly.

That being said, it isn’t time for official statements yet, but Donnarumma already has his pen ready to sign the new contract. From the start, the No.99’s will has been clear: he wants to stay at the club for many years.

There is still some distance on the figures, the parties are working to reduce it. Ivan Gazidis’ offer is €6.5m plus bonuses, while Mino Raiola is asking for €7.5m. As in all negotiations, they could meet halfway (€7m).

Milan already have a draft of the contract ready – with expiration set at 2024 – and hopes that the white smoke can arrive by Christmas. One last thing remains and that is the release clause, which the Rossoneri don’t want to include.
