CM: Origi a €16m bet by Maldini – Milan need to rejuvenate their attack

Divock Origi got the chance from start against Empoli but had a really poor evening, failing to impress the Milan fans. The Belgian was booed as he left the pitch and his form is becoming a serious problem.

Origi arrived on a free transfer ahead of the season and after struggling with injuries initially, many were hoping that he would find his stride. However, that certainly hasn’t been the case and yesterday was another example of that.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, it’s hard to understand what happened to the strike that could make an impact for Liverpool. The injuries are no longer bothering him and that makes the case even more strange, as he looked completely lost yesterday.

It was the first time a Milan player got properly booed by the San Siro crowd this season. And it’s hard to say that he didn’t deserve it, because there were so many obvious mistakes.

As the report concludes, Paolo Maldini made a €16m bet (€4m per season until 2026) and it isn’t paying off thus far. In the summer, Milan will have to rejuvenate the attack and it remains to be seen if Origi will stay.
