CM: Origi struggling in Nottingham – he could become a problem for Milan again

By Oliver Fisher -

Divock Origi risks being a problem that AC Milan must resolve again next summer as he is not making any kind of impact at Nottingham Forest, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com report, the return to the Premier League has not been as beneficial as Origi would have hoped. After a difficult first year at Milan he chose to join Forest, who he preferred to Burnley after a long chat with manager Steve Cooper.

However, the striker has only played 58 minutes since the start of the season, spread across four Premier League games, without scoring or providing any assists.

In the 2-2 draw against Luton Town yesterday afternoon he was in the stands due to a hip problem which will keep him away from the pitch for a few weeks.

Origi’s season is going very similar to the last in which he struggled to stay fit and scored only two goals in 1186 minutes across 26 games in all competitions.

At this rate it is difficult to think that Nottingham Forest will decide to buy him permanently, even if the figure is set at €4.5m. That means he would return to Milan next summer, where he has a contract until 2026 and a €4m net salary.

  1. We’d be saving 4 million by giving him away for free. Just sell him for $1 to anyone. He was a poor signing to begin with, and he has no spot on the team.

    1. I agree. TBH i thought he would be a better signing, but as you say, if he has no place in the squad, sell him for £1 and save the wages. At that cost, plenty of clubs will take the chance, and they will be able to meet his wages due to the non-existent transfer fee.
