CM: Pioli has dilemma on the left for Celtic clash – Hauge among three options

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is pondering which one of three players to deploy on the left of his 4-2-3-1 against Celtic on Thursday night, a report claims.

The Rossoneri will open their European campaign having not lost in their last 20 games across all competitions stretching back to the resumption after lockdown, with 16 wins in that period including seven out of seven in 2020-21.

According to Calciomercato.com, it seems that Ante Rebic will almost certainly miss the trip to Scotland as he has not yet recovered from his elbow dislocation sustained before the international break during the win over Crotone.

That means that there are three players currently fighting for a starting spot on the left wing: Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao and Jens Petter Hauge.

Brahim is a player that has played on the left albeit not yet for Milan, while Leao started the derby in that position and assisted Ibrahimovic to make it 2-0. Hauge, meanwhile, is probably the most natural left winger and will be pawing for an opportunity.
