CM: Pioli wants to see Reijnders get amongst the goals for Milan

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has tasked Tijjani Reijnders with adding goals to his game after a successful start to life in Serie A, a report suggests.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the Italian coach wants the Dutch midfielder to take the next natural step in his game, which would be chipping in with goals.

Reijnders has been one of Pioli’s favoured players ever since he arrived at the club from AZ Alkmaar, playing in nine Serie A games and all three Champions League group games. He has managed to get two assists in Serie A, but he has not scored a goal in either competition yet.

Whilst he was not purchased for his goalscoring exploits, a sign of any good team is when goals come from all over the pitch. Reijnders does find himself in attacking positions due to his endless running, so Pioli would like to see a contribution from him.

This was shown by Pioli’s comments in his press conference: “Few goals from midfield? We have to fill the area more, we are often going one-on-one on the outside and we are crossing more than last season. We have to fill the area not only with the full-backs but also with the opposite outside forward. I think Tijjani has the characteristics to do better, both in the last pass and in the conclusions because he is a player who has always scored goals.”

Reijnders got 13 goals in 128 games for AZ.

    1. Yes, and how did he do there against France? Similar to the match against PSG where he played deeper. Position is not the issue, quality of opponents is.

      1. That’s extremely harsh, kid has scored 2 goals in his first 3 games for the Netherlands. There is great enthusiasm around him. Quality of opponents sure but when the whole team gets burned you can’t expect him to shine. How would he look if he played for psg against us on that day?

        1. Which kid 2 goals in first 3 games for Netherlands? Bro has zero goals. And was terrible vs big teams like France, Juve, PSG…which was the main point

          1. It take you two sec to google this, he definitely have scored two games on thee for the Dutch. He have been all over the news, filled with praise. Anyone can have a bad game against France. You guys talk like we as collective isn’t struggling against the big teams and he is at fault.

          2. Yes it did take me 2 seconds to google it and it’s correct. Wtf 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zero goals. Which goals are you dreaming of??? Reinjders we’re talking about right? Just So that we’re not confused here.
Otherwise Foh with that. The whole team can get burned and you can still shine eg Bonaventura vs Inter back in the day, even though we lost he was clearly the best player for us

          3. IKWYDLS I I agree i cant find anything either, not even in friendly matches, so either its make belief to fit his narrative or done in training 😀

  1. Reijnders needs to relax – he doesn’t need goals to show his worth. The goals will come. Just needs to push forward and create. But he NEEDS A BREAK! Kid has started EVERY game!
