CM: Porto encounter Corona dilemma – Milan’s stance on potential Castillejo replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan went after Jesus Corona of Porto during the summer but didn’t land him, and now he is asking for a big renewal while the Rossoneri look at other targets.

Calciomercato.com writes that Frederic Massara worked hard for 20 days in search of an agreement that did not arrive due to the strenuous desire of Porto to obtain €15m from the sale of the Mexico international, and this was deemed too much for the Rossoneri for a player whose contract expires in June 2022.

The Portuguese side refused an offer of €10m from the Milan management and now they must try to mend the rift with a player. The report cites the newspaper Record in claiming that Corona wants €6million net per season to renew, a clear sign of how his head is already elsewhere.

Milan chose to go for Junior Messias on deadline day and intends to focus on the Brazilian at least until the end of the season. The former Crotone man is a bit of a gamble, but one that the management are convinced could pay off.

If Samu Castillejo were to leave, the number one suspect to replace him would be Romain Faivre from Brest, while Corona already has a couple of offers from LaLiga.
