CM: Porto striker willing to wait as Milan weigh pros and cons of €18m offer

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan need a new striker ahead of the upcoming season and they currently have several leads open on the mercato. Mehdi Taremi is one of their targets but the Rossoneri have not made a final decision yet.

Alvaro Morata appeared to be the main target for the centre-froward role but the high demands from Atletico Madrid, as well as the player, have forced Milan to look elsewhere. As a result, Taremi has been an increasingly popular hypothesis.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Iranian international has rejected several offers from Saudi Arabia and is willing to wait for Milan. This past season, the 30-year-old scored 22 goals in the league and 5 in the Champions League.

Milan have been in talks with Taremi’s entourage and a move could seemingly be possible at €18m. However, the Rossoneri are slightly hesitant as the striker would take their last non-EU spot, meaning they wouldn’t be able to sign Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal.

A lot will depend on the negotiations with Villarreal, therefore, and Taremi is willing to wait for now.

  1. One thing fr he’s very dedicated player. Despite several big offer from other clubs, he waits for this. Also price and wage won’t burden the club

  2. He is good but already 30 years without resale value anymore also cost one slot non EU. I doubt owner will approve this transfer

    1. obviously a short term fix unlike morata would would tear through the coffers with a 4 year high pay contract.
Get Taremi and scout for a young ST..
Taremi, Morata, Scamac, Dia all will sit for Giroud most of the time anyway

      1. Yeah, right. Like any of those players but Dia would even consider being a backup for Giroud. You can’t be serious. The only reason why Giroud is the Milan first striker is because he cost 2M and Milan is poor.

        1. Nah. Its becasue he is just that good. I dont know what Milan matches you watch but its pretty evident.
Even going a step futher, preformance wise, he was top 3 ST of seria a last season. The other two being Osi and Martinez

          1. Yeah, sure. Dia was literally better than him. Beto was there if you consider Giroud missed double digits in clear chances that were prepared for him. He was never “that good” and he is just the best at Milan. Once a real good striker comes he will go back to his usual position, bench.

          2. the most underrated striker of our time and here is Sénior Martin underrating him further.. you’re hopeless man. Hopeless. And blind.
Dude thinks Goirud missed double digits like he doesnt know what that means.. 13 goals isnt double digits 😀

          3. LOL, you can’t even understand basic stuff. It literally says he missed a lot of chances, but you need a drawing. Just look how many chances he wasted compared to other strikers. Dude is average when I want to be nice to him. He has been like that his entire career. Anyhow, you will see. Let’s just first see who will Milan sign, but if it is Morata or Taremi he is benched by October.

          4. Giroud’s hold up play and decision making is terrible. People rag on Tonali for miss-placing passes, but say nothing about Giroud? Ground is the French Dzeko. He’s functional. He does a job, but he is not World Class. He’s the Marco Simeone of this generation. I’ll say this for Giroud, he’s much better than that p###y Papin.

          5. I dont understand the basics.. LOLOLOLOLOL. Im not even gonna bother. you two can go touch grass, ignorant fans, very ignorant of the ways of football

          6. Yes, you replied with some random nonsense because you could not understand 2 simple sentences and that is my fault? Of course you will leave. The usual. Anyway, like I said, we will see in 3 months.

  3. He also played good as a LW, so there is that as well. If Leao gets injured he can play that. But I am reading that both Man Utd (if they can’t sign Kane or Hojlund) and Arsenal want him. Bayern also as plan C. So I doubt he will wait for Milan if an offer from those clubs come…

  4. We’re linked with young talent across all positions except for CF for some reason. Here our targets are only 30yo+…. Why is that?

    1. Because players that can provide a similar output to those 30 year olds cost 50-60M today. Example, Jonathan David from Lille is great, he is 23 y/o and costs 60M. Milan can’t pay that.
