English champions Manchester City could make a move for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli in January, a report claims.
Romagnoli has been one of the best signings the Rossoneri have made in recent memory, having amassed over 120 appearances for the club since his arrival in a €25million deal four years ago.
The 24-year-old has established himself among the Serie A elite in terms of centre-backs, and was rewarded by being given the captaincy at the start of last season.
Now, Romagnoli is attracting interest from England, as Calciomercato.it state that Manchester City are looking for a new defender due to Aymeric Laporte’s long-term injury.
That news has Italy’s top clubs ‘trembling’ – the outlet states – as Milan, Inter and Napoli believe that their star players could be the subject of big-money bids.
Romagnoli is named alongside Inter’s Milan Skriniar and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as potential options for the Premier League champions.
The report goes on to add that a huge offer for Romagnoli ‘could make Milan wobble’ due to the Financial Fair Play situation surrounding the club.
