CM: Premier League clubs show interest in Milan defender – the plan

By Euan Burns -

Premier League clubs have started to show interest in AC Milan defender Jan-Carlo Simic and the Rossoneri have a plan to respond.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, two Premier League clubs, Bournemouth and Fulham, have been evaluating the situation of the Simic who has been in and out of the Milan first team this season with injuries impacting the defensive options.

He has four Serie A appearances and one goal to his name and he has come across like a very mature defender when given minutes. The bulk of his action has been in the Primavera side given he is 18 years old.

It is believed that he wants to stay at Milan but he is out of contract in June 2025, so the club needs to get to work on offering the Serbian a new deal so that he does not slip through their fingers and head for the Premier League.

There has already been contact between the club and his entourage to start exploring a deal, but they will have to hope that his head is not turned.

What is possible is a loan move in the summer, after a new contract is signed, to get him some more first team experience.

  1. Or with Kjaer leaving, one or both Malik and Kalulu being sold in the summer, we can put him in rotation with Tomori and Gabbia. Kid needs to grow playing in UCL.

  2. This idiots will sell him. That is my main problem with Pioli. I would say the ONLY problem with Pioi. He is not “in and our” he is just OUT of the squad for no bloody reason. I would replace Pioli just for that. Simic is our future main CB and he can also play LB great. But no this stubborn mister just wont give him any playtime. May be Pioli and management just don’t have enough percentage off his price I wonder.

GIVE THE KID A PLAYTIME YOU …

    1. You’re not in training everyday with Simic. You don’t know what he sees or doesn’t see out of him.

Pioli’s obligation is to he the most out of this team. So if he does that with Simic not playing than that’s how it has to be. But Pioli does get the best out of his players.

Simic will play in the U23’s with the likes of Sia, Camarda and Zeroli

      1. I get the vibe that due to the pressure for sustained results, Pioli is not giving more game time to Simic and Jimenez. This is the issue I have with Inzaghi. Young players who need game time to better integrate with the team like Bisseck, Asllani and even Frattesi -who is in his first season at the team – are warming the bench. The team payed for that against Atletico where some of the bench players just were not ready to perform in UCL levels. Youngsters can’t grow up and mature on the bench or by playing against U23 kids.

        1. Yes, but against what teams can you allow them to make mistakes and not reprimand them for it?

Terraciano played once, made a mistake, now Pioli is giving him the “fare gavetta” treatment. Many Italian tacticians do.

          1. In what game did Simic make a mistake that caused Milan pain? Everyone can make a mistake, and there is a price to pay for the benefit of developing home-grown talent. Man City, Liverpool and Barcelona are playing kids in important matches. Is Milan so rich that it does not need its youngsters? Plus, in matches which are with 2 goals difference they can play for 20-30 min without a lot of risk (e.g. Lecce or Slavia).

      2. Well… If a defender shines in the training sessions and makes awful, awful mistakes in every match (ie. Thiaw), the training sessions should count for less than the match displays. Simic has made zero mistakes while playing and has shown really strong signs. I don’t know (or care) how he’s doing in the trainings but so far what the public has seen, it should definitely be Simic who gets to play and not Thiaw.

Go ahead, ask anyone who has seen them both on the pitch.

    2. You want to change coach just for unproven kid ???. You can guarantee simic wont leave free transfer like donnarumma if pioli give him starting spot for 3-4 years ? If you forcing simic for starting spot then how about other player in squad like kalulu, gabbia, thiaw, tomori. They will happy sitting in bench watching primavera kid given special treatment to play just because ppl like you asking that ?

  3. Possibly future world class central defender and Milan still don’t agree a long term contract with this kid. Stupid idiots in the
    club management…

    1. You’re right… idiotic management…. has no clue…. especially about scouting talent and brining it into the club…. None of the summer signings worked out, right? You sound like you know it all and better…

Maybe look in the mirror before calling anyone stupid.

  4. confused management wanted to sell diamond and go for mirror. no matter how good the guy from Boca Juniors Is prefer simic to him cos he had few games with the first team and Did well

  5. If you don’t put him in the first team and use them with only U23 teams how you are gonna trust them to put them on?
Like Kjaer is leaving you can sell Kalulu then you try and bring Buongiorno as first cb or someone that has very good quality as first CB then you can have simic and thiaw. If not buongiorno coz they may go to Atalanta or inter then get Scalvini and then put tomori and thiaw. Zeroli Liberali can be brought in to first team because you can easily sell pobega and loan with obligation to buy musah

    1. Buongiorno? That guy is a certified inter fanboy and he said he prefer to move to Inter over other club.

I rather we keep Kalulu as Calabria deputy since Florenzi probably gonna leave the club too.
