CM: Rebic unlikely to recover in time for Inter clash but the alternatives are ready

By Isak Möller -

Milan are currently gearing up to take on Inter at San Siro this Saturday, keen on grabbing their first league win against the Nerazzurri since 2016. There are some questions marks about the XI, though.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri had a training session at Milanello this morning. Lorenzo Colombo, coming back from Italy’s U20 camp, took part in the entire session while Sandro Tonali did recovery work after 90 minutes for Italy’s U21 side.

Milan are in great form and haven’t lost a game since March. After three league games, Gigio Donnarumma’s clean-sheet is still intact but the real test is on Saturday. Although the goalkeeper will be available, there is great doubt regarding Ante Rebic.

Stefano Pioli is waiting for the controls that will take place tomorrow, as these will be decisive to determine the Croatian’s condition. That being said, as the report continues, no optimism is filtering from the club.

The alternatives are ready and all in excellent form: Brahim Diaz is the favourite but Rafael Leao still has some chances. Jens Petter Hauge, on the other hand, could be the ‘crazy solution’ for the left-hand side.

This afternoon Brahim Diaz, Diogo Dalot and Rafael Leao returned to Milan. Tomorrow it will be Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alexis Saelemaekers, Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer, Simon Kjaer, Ciprian Tatarusanu, JP Hauge, Rade Krunic and Hakan Calhanoglu.
