CM: Kabak, Esteve and Pellegrino on Milan’s six-man centre-back wish list

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan still have a number of different options on their list as they search for the right centre-back to complete the department, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com have published a report confirming Milan’s interest in signing Marco Pellegrino from Club Atlético Platense, a player that the scouting department – headed by Geoffrey Moncada – have provided positive reports on.

The 21-year-old has been added to the list of profiles followed by management but he is not the only one being considered. Among the other targets are Maxime Esteve of Montpellier (who could cost €6-7m), Ozan Kabak of Hoffenheim and Japhet Tanganga of Spurs.

Andrew Omobamidele of Norwich City is a profile that is very much admired too but he would cost around €15m, while Clement Lenglet of Barcelona is an idea that has been explored given his excellent experience and the fact he is left-footed.

Pellegrino has jumped to the top of the list based on what has emerged in the last few hours, but it is by no means a done deal.

  1. We can buy only non-italian players born in 2002 or later for the Serie A lists. Any talk of older defenders means that we’re selling one of our current central defenders, or that the defender is comfortable at playing as either left defender or defensive midfielder (to replace Ballo Toure or Krunic)

Kabak and Tanganga are definitely bogus rumors.

    1. Ummm… UK players becoming equal to EU and Swiss players, freed one Non-EU slot for Milan, so they can bring anyone they want. No one needs to leave.

      1. I believe he’s referring to homegrown status. Not EU. And considering that, for now and the nearest future, all our final signings (probably 2 or 3 players) must be Italian

      1. Actually looking at it I could see why they’ll sign Pellegrini. Low cost, high potential and he has an Italian Passport.

  2. If the Milans want a defender who can play as a DM and play with his left leg, they should look at the boy who plays for São Paulo in Brazil Lucas Beraldo, 19 years old, absolute starter. Better than Pellegrino.
He has the potential to develop enormously and I’m sure that in a short time he would be a starter at Milan

  3. Viti ?, Califiori ? (we had Bozzolan already, but anyway), Ricci, Keep Colombo.
Mercato done n dusted. (Well after the exits too…lol)

    1. Best comment I’ve read in weeks, would be super happy If we got Viti, Califiori and Ricci and definitely keep Colombo.
Unfortunately we will more likely get some unknown player from the other side of the world who none of us have heard of, but because he is foreign will be signed!!!!
