CM: Tension between Milan and Calhanoglu – the Rossoneri’s final offer and Juve’s interest

As the days, weeks and months tick by Milan seem to be no closer to resolving the situation regarding Hakan Calhanoglu’s contract.

According to Calciomercato.com, there is a total stalemate in the negotiations between Milan and Calhanoglu for the renewal of his current deal, which expires at the end of the season. The many meetings in recent months between the parties over the previous few months have not yet led to an agreement and ‘the tension between them is palpable’ because the possibility of the Turkey international leaving on a free transfer is growing.

The latest offer presented by Massara and Maldini is €4m net per season plus bonuses based on individual and team objectives, a proposal that the Diavolo consider to be final based on careful evaluations on the value and importance of the player ‘within the principles of economic sustainability’ that CEO Ivan Gazidis is trying to establish.

Calhanoglu wants at least €5m net fixed, so the distance is there and it seems difficult to fill. Hakan feels at the height of his footballing maturity and is aiming for the best contract of his career, so he would be willing to go down only minimally from his request.

Juventus have a concrete interest in signing the former Leverkusen man as Paratici has been an admirer of his for years. Milan remain convinced that other clubs could at most equal their offer, so then it would be up to the player to choose his own destiny. The Rossoneri are looking around to evaluate the opportunities for if he leaves.
