CM: The truth about Gattuso’s return to AC Milan; Elliott crucial

This evening, Marco Giampaolo will get 90 minutes to save his job as the Rossoneri take on Genoa away from home. However, should they lose, then things will get complicated for the former Sampdoria boss.

As Calciomercato.com highlights, many candidates have been linked with the job, including Milan’s former manager Gennaro Gattuso, who resigned from his position at the start of the summer. However, a return is unlikely for the 41-year-old.

Gattuso was convinced that the Rossoneri lacked the experience to mix with the young players, and nothing has been done during the summer to improve the squad in this aspect. Therefore, and not because of tension with Maldini, a return remains difficult per the report.

On the other hand, as the report states, there were a lot of heated arguments between the manager and Leonardo last season. The latter has since left the club, though Gattuso isn’t keen on the idea of returning to the club as a ‘caretaker’.

Meanwhile, the Milan owners Elliott have great respect for the former midfielder, realizing the importance of making the love for the Rossoneri colours a key reference. According to the report, only a call from the American fund would change Gattuso’s mind.
