CM: The truth regarding Milan’s summer pursuit of €20m-rated Rubin Kazan winger

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were heavily linked with a move for Rubin Kazan winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but in the end he remained in Russia.

It was reported by Metaratings.ru that Kvaratskhelia will continue his career at Milan, with former Rossoneri defender Kakhaber Kaladze having assisted the deal. Kvaratskhelia’s father has already revealed to the the media that his son would definitely no longer play in Russia and would move to one of the top European leagues, and they were adamant Milan is the destination, but he never arrived.

Calciomercato.com have offered some background on the situation, Kvaratskhelia was on Milan’s wish list but directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara never struck up a real negotiation.

That is in large part down to the requests of Rubin Kazan, who asked for €20m to sell the 20-year-old Georgian winger, a figure deemed too high by the management and they were stopped from deepening any talks.
