CM: Thiaw’s agent working on Premier League move – Milan’s stance and minimum price

Gerry Cardinale’s visit to Italy has brought about an acceleration in AC Milan’s summer mercato and not exclusively on the incomings front either.

According to Calciomercato.com, the arrival of the RedBird Capital number one has ‘unlocked the Youssouf Fofana operation with Monaco’ and he continues to speak with Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic about other situations.

At present, Cardinale does not need to evaluate any offers for the key players within the squad and on the contrary there is actually the desire to lock down certain stars long-term, such as Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan.

A player who could soon become the subject of reflection is Malick Thiaw. Milan consider him to be central to the project, but his agent has been working on a transfer to the Premier League since January.

Newcastle United seem to be the team that have stepped forward, after they had some contact with the Rossoneri in June without making a written offer. In the last few hours they have re-established contact with the agency that look after the interests of the German defender.

Milan hold Thiaw in high regard, as shown by the fact they signed him from second division side Schalke, but at the same time they will not hold anyone against their will and thus if he wants to leave offers will be evaluated.

To convince the Rossoneri, a lot of money is still needed. They believe that he is worth €40m, and that has been transmitted to his agency.
