AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer had attracted the interest of three other teams prior to his move to the Rossoneri, a report claims.
The Algeria international has been a revelation since his arrival at Milan and has so far proven to be one of the best – if not the best – of the six summer signings.
He has taken the starting spot away from Lucas Biglia, who many expected to be favoured in the regista position especially given the appointment of Stefano Pioli, with whom he worked at Lazio.
According to Calciomercato.com though, it could have all been different. Current Milan sporting director Frederic Massara wanted to sign him for Roma, while he was also apparently close to a move to Napoli when Cristiano Giuntoli was there.
Fiorentina were also on the tail of the 21-year-old, though eventually it would be Milan who swooped in and sealed a €16m deal to bring him to San Siro.
