CM: Two key reasons highlighted as Pioli is set to pick Tomori over Romagnoli to face Roma

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Roma tonight, and Stefano Pioli has specific ideas about rediscovering that formula.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the game at the Olimpico will be fundamental match in the Champions League race and the battle to stay in touching distance of leaders Inter. Milan will be on stage tonight at the Olimpico against Paulo Fonseca’s Roma and Pioli has been working in recent days to find the best tactical setup to try to stem the Giallorossi attack.

The report adds that Alessio Romagnoli should initially start on the bench as Pioli is set to go with a centre-back pairing of Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer. It is choice derived from two evaluations: the first is that the explosiveness of the Englishman could prove to be a factor against the quick opponents, and the second is the poor psycho-physical form of Romagnoli.

The captain’s armband will pass on to the arm of Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is the vice-captain and who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thursday with some crucial saves against Red Star.
