CM: Verona match could be last Milan game for 12 players – the breakdown

By Oliver Fisher -

The spotlight will all be on Zlatan Ibrahimovic tonight as he says goodbye to AC Milan, but there are 12 players who may no longer be part of the squad next season.

As report, two guaranteed departures are Ciprian Tatarusanu and Sergiño Dest, with the former on a contract which expires at the end of the month and the latter on a loan deal which runs out on the same day.

Brahim Diaz is destined to start, but it could be his last appearance at San Siro as a Rossoneri player. Paolo Maldini would like to buy him for a sum not exceeding €20-22 , but Real Madrid seem to have different ideas with Marco Asensio leaving.

Ante Rebic and Divock Origi are both available for transfer this summer, while Tiemoue Bakayoko and Aster Vranckx are on loan deals from Chelsea and Wolfsburg respectively which run out, with both midfielders destined to return.

Yacine Adli should go out on loan, while Fode Ballo-Touré and Matteo Gabbia could be sold. Even Charles De Ketelaere is not certain of a spot in the squad for next season given his disappointing debut campaign.

  1. Yeah, they’re building a team that will last a long time but they’ll get rid of 12 players…

I do not understand all these stories about Ballo-Toure being sold. He isn’t disastrous when he comes on and it’s well understood that any back up to Theo Hernandez won’t play much anyway. The only reason this story gets about is because certain story writers find Ballo-Toure uninteresting and that’s because he isn’t as exciting to them as Theo Hernandez. It’s so petty.

  2. How would he destabilize Milan by letting go of 12 players that are barely playing, not playing at all or not even in the match day squad?
Ballo Toure should be sold not because he is uninteresting but because he isn’t good. Or have we forgotten that on a lot of occasions when Theo wasn’t playing, Pioli used Kalulu, Florenzi, and Calabria playing on the left instead of playing the non disastrous Toure?
Is that the level Milan should be on now? Should we keep players not because they are good but just because they are not disastrous?
